Hey, you! Yes, you. Is your toilet seat meeting all your tushy needs? When’s the last time you thought about your toilet seat? And did you know that there are many toilet seat options out there, so you and your tushy never have to settle?
That’s why I partnered with the fabulous folks at Bemis to talk all things toilet seats. Bemis is an amazing company working in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, and they’ve been in business for 120 years! They were actually the first toilet seat manufacturer to use plastic hinges on their seats.
Bemis has been manufacturing wood toilet seats since 1932 and injection-molded plastic toilet seats since 1964. They expanded into retail in the mid-1950s, creating Mayfair, a new product line. Mayfair by Bemis is still known today for its style and design. Now in their fourth generation of family leadership, Bemis is an innovative company that cares about the environment and invests in their community.
Not only is Bemis family-owned, but they’ve employed many families with multiple generations all working at Bemis. And they are committed to creating eco-friendly toilet seats and starting and contributing to environmental initiatives in Wisconsin. They even converted 54 acres of Bemis-owned farmland into prairie land!
So if you’re wondering why I chose to partner with Bemis, that’s one reason. But another is their absolutely amazing toilet seats. Today we’re going to go over my three favorite Bemis toilet seats. So if you’re searching for the best toilet seat out there, you’re sure to find it right here.
Environmental Benefits of Bemis
Bemis is an industry expert in injection molding technology. What does this mean? For plastic seats, Bemis incorporates approximately 1.2 million pounds of reclaimed plastic into their seats every year!
Bemis has also identified several internal streams of waste materials that are collected and processed, which they use in their plastic toilet seats and sell to other processors. This diverts over 550,000 pounds of waste from landfills each year.
On top of this, Bemis uses 175,000 pounds of reclaimed plastic from local manufacturers. The material is sorted, reprocessed, tested, and used to manufacture some of the hinges for their toilet seats. This is innovative technology, folks! And it’s being used to benefit the environment.
For their enameled wood seats, Bemis sources post-production wood shavings from window and floor manufacturers across Wisconsin. This means that no trees are harmed in the making of your toilet seat. Plus, this wood material would normally be destined for a landfill. But instead, Bemis repurposes it to be made into excellent enameled wood toilet seats.
This isn’t even all of the amazing environmental initiatives Bemis has, but that would take a much longer article to cover. So without further ado, let’s get into my three favorite Bemis toilet seats.

People tend to overlook toilet seats most of the time. But let us remind you that you sit on it often. Because of this, you have to know it well. Traditionally, toilet seats are made of wood. Though this material is still utilized these days, there are many other materials.
My husband fell against the Beemis toilet seat. I now have the lid disconnected from the seat. I cannot figure out how to get it back on as the hinge has plastic prongs that stick out.
