Cleaning and maintaining various household items and surfaces is a crucial part of keeping your home fresh and hygienic. In this video, we will discuss how to clean different items in your home and provide helpful tips for maintaining them. From cleaning moldy surfaces to window screens, natural stone countertops, and even under the kitchen sink, we’ve got you covered.

So, let’s dive in!

First, we’ll tackle moldy surfaces. To deal with mold and mildew, create a solution by mixing equal parts borax and vinegar in a small container. Apply this mixture to the moldy surface with a cleaning toothbrush. Leave it for about 10 minutes for tough stains, or you can start scrubbing immediately for lighter ones. Rinse the area clean with a paper towel, and for extra protection, use a mold and mildew treatment spray.

Window screens don’t need frequent cleaning, but when you do clean them, pop them off gently and take them outside. Use a shower head or a hose to rinse them. For stubborn dirt, use a solution of water, vinegar, and dish soap with a soft scrub brush. Be gentle to avoid tearing the mesh.

Moving on to cleaning natural stone surfaces like marble or granite. Focus on removing oil stains, typically yellowish or greenish. Create a paste with two parts baking soda and one part hydrogen peroxide. Apply it to the stain, let it sit for 24-48 hours, and then gently scrape it off. To prevent future stains, seal your natural stone surfaces every 2-3 months.

Under the kitchen sink, you’ll find an often-neglected area. This black hole can be a cluttered mess. Clean it by emptying it, giving it a wipe-down, and replacing any liners if necessary. Check for plumbing issues causing moldy odors, and if in doubt, call a plumber. Use storage solutions like tension racks to keep it organized and functional.

Now, let’s move on to cleaning your cleaning tools. Nylon scrub brushes, cleaning toothbrushes, and dish brushes with plastic handles can be cleaned by soaking them in hot water with oxygen bleach powder. Rinse them after soaking. Sponges should be rinsed, wrung out, and air-dried to prevent odors. Change sponges every 2 weeks to 1 month. Brooms can be cleaned by cutting out hair and debris. Mops can be washed in the machine or rinsed and laundered along with cleaning cloths. Vacuum cleaner maintenance involves cleaning the beater bar, filters, and canister regularly for optimal performance.

Rubber gloves can be cleaned just like your hands, with soap and water. Let them air dry properly, and be careful when removing them to prevent sticking. Toilet bowl brushes can be soaked in hot water with oxygen bleach powder. Rinse and dry them. For mop heads, whether they are yacht or flathead mops, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for cleaning.

Don’t forget your squeegee, often used in the shower. Clean it by mixing equal parts vinegar and dish soap, then scrub the rubber tip and the rest of the squeegee. Rinse it for a sparkling finish.
