Rather than purchasing specialty natural stone cleaners, which can get right up there price-wise, make your own simple solution at home. The rubbing alcohol dries quickly which helps with shine and offers you some disinfecting properties. It won’t harm the stone, and the essential oils help make the mixture smell lovely and can also offer other antibacterial properties.
- 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol
- 3/4 cup water,
- 1 teaspoon dish soap
- 10 drops of essential oils (optional)
Simply mix in a spray bottle and shake, spray on, wait a moment and wipe off with a microfiber cloth to reveal a beautiful shine. You do not need to rinse, this leaves no residue behind.

Hello!
How could a daily shower cleaner recipe be adapted for a stone shower? I see that the regular recipe includes vinegar.
Or would you recommend different maintenance altogether? I use a squeegee every time on the glass and where water pools up on the stone. Also use a microfiber cloth to grab extra moisture if I have extra time and I’m feeling fancy.
Thank you!!
Can this cleaner be used on Marble flooring and Granite Counter tops?
If you have a lot of grout be careful it did break down some of my grout. My stone work is 15+ years old so maybe this won’t happen with new grout. I have a lot of extra grout on the front of my stones so this actually worked great for me to scrub some excess grout off! Just be sure to do a test spot. I knew right away this was happening so you should know quickly if you are going to have a problem. I followed the recipe exactly.
I used wild orange essential oil and its great!
I make a granite cleaner and hand sanitizer with cheap vodka instead of rubbing alcohol. I like that it’s a “food item.”???? However, I use a higher concentration of it than you so I’m glad to hear that I could lower it and still have disinfecting properties. I also haven’t thought to put dish soap in it, so thanks for the idea!! I absolutely LOVE all of your ideas and videos ! Please keep them coming !!????????????
