I haven’t tried this personally but I’m reading your question , I instantly thought about BEHR SWIPES Interior Deglossing Pre-Paint Wipes (10-Pack) they’re about $3 at Home Depot. For that price I was thinking it might be worth a shot? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi,
if you used olive oil or any plant-based or animal-based oil, that could be root of your problem. Olive oil destroys the rubber and it begins to crack. Sadly I do not know any remedy for this particular problem…
